DESCRIPTION
Leisure Horse Ireland prides itself in consistently providing an excellent, efficient and cost-effective service to its owners and breeders. All of our Studbooks and Equine Identification Register are DAFM and EU approved. All Studbook Passports qualify for the national breeding schemes etc.
THE IRISH PIEBALD & SKEWBALD STUDBOOK (IPSA)
Coloured horses have gained popularity due to their unique and eye-catching appearance, with their striking and unique coat patterns, they are used in a variety of equestrian disciplines, just like horses of any other colour. The colour of the horse does not determine its ability or potential use; instead, it is the horse’s conformation, temperament, and training that determine its suitability for specific activities. There is no doubt about it, the coloured horse will be found participating in various disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, and pony club activities. We have operated this DAFM and EU approved studbook for 20+ years and offer full or supplementary studbook registration.
THE WELSH PONY & COB STUDBOOK OF IRELAND (WPCSI)
Bred in the mountains and wild regions of Wales for many generations, their acknowledged beauty does not mean they are merely a ‘pretty toy’ — centuries of ‘survival of the fittest’ has ensured their sound
constitution, iron hard limbs and great intelligence which combined with the legendary Welsh temperament means these ponies feature in all aspects of equestrianism.
This fully DAFM and EU approved WPCS daughter studbook serving Irish breeders allows full or part-bred studbook registration.
THE IRISH CLYDESDALE HORSE STUDBOOK (ICHSI)
Clydesdale horses are a magnificent draft horse breed known for their strength, size, and striking appearance. The Clydesdale is a Scottish breed of draught horse and is among the tallest equines in the world. Known for its height and strength but also a certain elegance, the Clydesdale is a heavy horse with style. Leisure Horse Ireland are fully DAFM and EU approved to operate and maintain this studbook, which is the only approved Clydesdale Horse studbook in Ireland and caters to Irish and selected EU countries breeders. The studbook is a daughter studbook to mother studbook in Scotland (ICHS) thus giving access to all historical and precious pedigree lines.
THE SHIRE HORSE STUDBOOK OF IRELAND (SHSI)
The Shire horse is a magnificent and powerful draft horse breed that originates from England. It is one of the largest horse breeds in the world and has a long history dating back to medieval times. The Shire horse’s grand appearance and gentle disposition have made it a beloved breed among horse enthusiasts worldwide. While their use in traditional agriculture has diminished, they continue to be admired and
appreciated for their historical significance, strength, and beauty. Leisure Horse Ireland are fully DAFM and EU approved to operate and maintain this studbook, which is the only approved Shire Horse studbook in Ireland and caters to Irish and selected EU countries breeders. The studbook is a daughter studbook to the mother studbook in England thus giving access to all historical and precious
pedigree lines.
THE IRISH DONKEY STUDBOOK (IDS)
Irelands only approved Donkey studbook offers pedigree recorded and non-pedigree passports. This dedicated studbook aims to support and increase awareness of the breed in Ireland. By registering your donkey with the Irish Donkey Studbook, you are supporting the breed type and helping to further protect it.
EQUINE IDENTIFICATION REGISTER
The equine register (non-studbook – aka “white book” type registry) caters for all types of equines that do not qualify for a studbook passport or where breed type is unknown or not recorded at time of registration. Where pedigree / breed type is not recorded, it allows for the issuing of a passport with minimum fuss or delay and at a reduced cost.
