Leisure Horse Ireland prides itself in consistently providing an excellent, efficient and cost-effective service to its owners and breeders. All of our Studbooks and Equine Identification Register are DAFM and EU approved.

THE IRISH PIEBALD & SKEWBALD STUDBOOK (IPSA)
NB: This studbook passporting service is available to Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and EU residents only.
Coloured horses have gained popularity due to their unique and eye-catching appearance, with their striking and unique coat patterns, they are used in a variety of equestrian disciplines, just like horses of any other colour. The colour of the horse does not determine its ability or potential use; instead, it is the horse’s conformation, temperament, and training that determine its suitability for specific activities. There is no doubt about it, the coloured horse will be found participating in various disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, and pony club activities. We have operated this DAFM and EU approved studbook for 20+ years and offer full or supplementary studbook registration.
Note: True coloured horses (defined body patches) still qualify for an IPSA Supplementary Studbook passport, even when not DNA typed and / or no pedigree is recorded.

Processing Times:
To optimize efficiency the processing times, new non-pedigree registrations will adhere to a five working-day turnaround. This allows us to maintain consistency of service. For instance, an application received on a Monday, provided it is complete and correct, will where possible be dispatched on the following Monday. Similarly, items received on other weekdays will follow a similar schedule.
While we appreciate the urgency of certain requests, we kindly request your cooperation in
refraining from demanding even faster processing times. Such requests disrupt our workflow
significantly.
Should express turnaround be absolutely necessary and feasible, a premium applies for this service.
Other Considerations:
• Ensure diagram and written description are completed correctly by a qualified veterinary
surgeon and dated within 6 months of submission.
• Compliant type transponder implanted where none pre-existed.
• The fully completed application form with the correct amount of cleared payment.
• Applications requiring referral or return will incur additional processing / postage fees.
• Once submitted, an application cannot be cancelled. Unresolved issues lasting beyond
6 months may result in the application being voided and any fees paid will be forfeited.
• If it transpires an equine was registered previously and was not disclosed, no refund will issue. If an issued passport must later be cancelled, cancellation fees become payable by the applicant.
• Risk of loss and the cost of duplicate passports will be entirely borne by the applicant when
sent by standard post.
• Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY) must be confirmed by the identifying vet on the markings, if
only the year of birth is detailed, Jan 1st of that year will be the recorded.
• Under legislation a Passport must be applied for within 6 months of birth. Equines who
have not had their Identification Document issued within 12 months of birth, or submitted
so close to the date that the PIO is not allowed time to run necessary checks, will be
ineligible for slaughter for human consumption and will be classified accordingly in Section
II Part II of the Identification Document.
