ONLINE OWNERSHIP REGISTRATION (UK RESIDENTS ONLY)

Due to ongoing customs related difficulties in posting passports from the UK to EU, we can now accept ONLINE ownership registration for UK RESIDENTS.

**This online service is not available to residents of The Republic of Ireland**

To complete this process:

When you receive the payment confirmation email, reply to that email outlining how you acquired the animal and attach copies of the passport pages we need to verify:
- Ownership Record
- Registration Details
- Medicinal Treatment (food chain status)

When processed, a label will be posted to you by standard post (included in the fee) which you apply to the ownership details page of the passport, there after you must have the passport over stamped by a UK agency in order to upload details to the UK CED.

NB: If the passport also requires an equine name change or passport amendment, the passport must be returned to us and you would complete the offline ownership registration option instead.

MORE INFORMATION

The principal reason for posting the passport back to us was that it gave the opportunity to examine it for unauthorised changes and alterations. We still need to perform these checks, but instead of posting the passport, you now must email us copies of certain pages as detailed below.

Passport pages and other details you need to email us:

(A) Copy of proof of purchase (bill of sale / invoice), or copy of vetting or a brief outline of the circumstances of your acquiring ownership.

The previous owners’ signature / details are not required and it is a common situation that previous owners may not have registered their ownership. The important thing is that you are declaring and registering your ownership now.

(B) Copy of relevant Passport pages:

Your ownership will be registered on the LHI database and on the Irish Dept of Agriculture Equine database. When processed a label will be posted to you by standard post which you apply to the ownership details page of the passport, there after have the passport over stamped by a UK agency in order to upload details to the UK CED.

Some owners then also like to register chip numbers on 3rd party pet identification websites, but this is a matter for individual horse owners and it is not a service LHI offers.

DESCRIPTION

Leisure Horse Ireland prides itself in consistently providing an excellent, efficient and cost-effective service to its owners and breeders.

You are obliged by local laws to register as the owner within 30 days of taking possession.

Before completing the transaction, ensure the transponder in the horse matches the passport and all other details in the passport correctly identify the horse. It is illegal to sell a horse on a passport with known errors. If you accept a passport with errors, you are obliged to have it corrected immediately and you will incur considerable costs doing so.
